The following categories are included in your entry fee as you compete for your title (live pageants only). Scroll down for optionals that you may compete in for live or online pageants. See the Age Groups page to find your age division and title category.
*Activewear: Contestants will wear activewear/sportswear during this competition. At this time, free style runway modeling is permitted. Contestants are judged on physical fitness and personality. We are not looking for the thinnest person. Contestants will learn how to model during orientation if they are new to pageants. NO PRO AM. This is 25% of the score.
Interview: Interviews will take place prior to the pageant as a one on one with the judges. Contestants will wear *business/job interview attire. Entrants are judged on their confidence and clarity of their answers. Questions will come from the contestant's biography sheet, current events, popular culture and topics related to the entrant's age group. This is 35% of the score.
(Contestants 6 years old and under may have a parent in the room during the interview/play time with the judges.)
*Formal Wear: Contestants will appear on stage in formal attire (party dresses ages 9 and under, gowns for ages 10 and up, slacks and suit jackets for boys). No free style modeling is permitted in this competition, this is strictly T style. Contestants are judged on poise. Contestants will learn how to model during orientation. NO PRO AM. This is 25% of the score.
On Stage Question: This competition occurs during the formal wear portion. Contestants will answer a surprise question to the best of their ability. Entrants are judged on their ability to speak well in an impromptu situation. This is 15% of the score.
(Contestants 9 years old and under will receive their onstage question in advance. Baby Miss & Tiny Miss contestants will simply state their name and age if possible.)
OPTIONAL COMPETITION CATAGORIES
There are several other categories available to you in which you may compete in addition to the required elements (live or online). Awards are offered in each optional division.
Photogenic: Contestants may submit a photo, either black and white or color, with their final payment. It may be either professional or snapshot. Natural photos only. No glitz.

Talent: Contestants may perform any talent they wish within a 2 minute 30 second time limit. Fire batons, knife throwing and similar dangerous talents are not permitted. Please advise if you will be needing a microphone. If you are using music, we prefer cassette tapes. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide pianos or gymnastic mats. Please bring your own equipment. Talent will take place the morning of the pageant after interviews. (ages 2 & up)
*Online: please send a video tape or DVD of you performing your talent. Pro Am modeling is not permitted as a talent.
Academic: Contestants may submit a copy of their most recent report card along with a letter from a teacher of their choice highlighting their scholastic achievements. This is due with the final payment and you must currently be enrolled in school.
(kindergarten through adult)
Essay: Contestants may submit an essay on the topic "What does natural beauty mean to me?" (50 word min.-250 word max.) This is due with the final payment and must be written by the contestant. (kindergarten through adult)
Community Service: Contestants may submit a resume highlighting their community service work and achievements. This is due with the final payment. (ages 2 through adult)
Host/Hostess: This award is presented to the contestant who encouraged one or more friends to join him/her in the pageant. (all ages)
*Note to Contestants and Parents: Please do not spend hundreds of dollars on a new wardrobe. Everything you need is probably already in your closet. If you have questions about wardrobe or where to purchase certain items at reasonable prices, please ask. Points will be deducted for "glitz" attire.
*Pageant Title Holder Rules:A winner holds his/her title for one year from the day they are crowned.They may compete in other pageant systems. All winners are permitted to compete in consecutive years after they have completed their service. Pageant winners may make optional public appearances with the approval of the national director.
